The essay portion of the application is our recognition of the importance of what you say about yourself. How much you write is less important than what you say. Remember that we are trying to get a sense of you as a distinct individual. Consider your personal essay not as an obstacle but as an opportunity to tell us what you think is important. Each student at Deerfield has a faculty advisor who guides his or her academic choices and serves as a personal counselor.
